Professionally Trained Mudgeeraba Florist

In 2019, the profound impact of Covid on the hospitality industry motivated me to pursue my long-held dream of venturing into floristry. Despite the earlier deterrent of the high cost of floristry courses at TAFE, the availability of government subsidies in 2019 opened doors for industry retraining.

With steadfast support from my husband, I enrolled at GC Floristry and Management on the northern Gold Coast. Juggling one day of classes with part-time work in hospitality, I successfully completed the program after more than 30 weeks and secured a position as a florist with a prominent company. Always nurturing the ambition to establish my own business, I now find myself on a rewarding path in the world of floristry.

Reflecting on my past, where dahlias in my mother’s garden were once dismissed as “old people’s flowers,” they have now become my favorites for their beauty and resilience. In June 2021, while arranging flights for my mother’s 80th birthday celebration, I had a moment of inspiration. To honor the woman who courageously moved our family from a small Pacific island to New Zealand, I founded Floralina & Co. Her joy and appreciation for the gesture touched me deeply.
